The following injuries are commonly seen in the clinic.

Bone Stress Injuries

Bone stress injuries are unfortunately common amongst endurance sports athletes, with bones in the feet and lower limbs often the victim. The affected bone and injury grading significantly impact the aggressiveness of intervention required, and the prognosis for recovery. Whilst training load is a primary contributor, there are a number of other issues that also impact risk, including appropriate fueling, hormones, recovery management and load balance - to name a few. Hence, although we commonly treat bone stress injuries, we will collaborate with other health professionals to manage the injury more effectively, involving the care of a sports doctor, sports dietician and potentially also physiotherapist and exercise physiologist.

Plantar Heel Pain

Complaints of plantar heel pain are common in the podiatry clinic. Whilst a majority of intial treatment interventions are similar regardless of the cause, it's important to differentiate between different injuries, because subtle changes to treatment can significantly impact long term prognosis. Plantar Fasciitis is often assumed as the culprit, but heel pain can be caused by a number of conditions, including damage or ruture to the calcaneal fat pad, nerve impingement, or calcaneal stress fracture.
