The benefits of gait analsyis and optimising technique can be realised by runners of all ages, abilities and experience levels. You can improve efficiency, promote performance gains in speed or load tolerance, whilst also reducing injury risk.

Whilst there are ideals that exist around the best running technique, there is no running style that will suit every athlete or every runner. No two athletes are the same. Even though the key principles of good running technique remain constant, the way they are applied and achieved by each athlete will be different. 

 

The gait analysis services we offer will focus on finding your optimal running gait. We use a combination of visual and video gait analysis, and will also implement the use of Podosmart insoles to measure and provide comprehensive reporting on relevant gait parameters, including foot strike position and angle, cadence and stride length. These findings together with a thorough assessment of your functional strength and joint range of movement, and discussion regarding training, injuries and footwear choices, allow us to determine the best interventions to recommend. 

 

Our goal is to determine the best steps for you to take on your running journey - to help you enjoy your running and perform at your best. We are not trying to make drastic changes, but rather to optimise your gait and target aspects of gait relative to the fundamentals of good posture, foot strike position and cadence. 

 

Interventions are highly dependent your individual circumstances, gait patterns and desired outcomes. Specifics aside, generally we will implement functional strength exercises, running drills, verbal and visual cues to complement the subtle changes we are targeting. The recommendations are designed to improve muscle activation and movement patterns to illicit changes.
